Il fonctionne sans subvention gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 pr\u00e8s de 200 b\u00e9n\u00e9voles. \/ The ARN operates a no-kill shelter in Montreal as well as a community-based network of foster homes where unwanted cats are cared for, entirely run by 200 volunteers without any governmental help.","membre_description":"<div><p><strong>Le RSA compte pr\u00e9sentement plus de 200 b\u00e9n\u00e9voles r\u00e9partis \u00e0 travers diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9quipes: entretien du refuge, adoptions, familles d'accueil, soins m\u00e9dicaux, entra\u00eenement des nouveaux b\u00e9n\u00e9voles, communications, administration et lev\u00e9e de fonds.<\/strong><br\/><br\/>Ensemble, ils oeuvrent pour l'atteinte de quatre objectifs :<br\/><br\/><b>(1) Refuge d'animaux et foyers d'accueil :<\/b> Le RSA g\u00e8re un refuge sans euthanasie pour les chats, ainsi qu'un r\u00e9seau de foyers d'accueil o\u00f9 les chats et les chiens abandonn\u00e9s sont pris en charge. Le refuge est divis\u00e9 en plusieurs pi\u00e8ces, dont certaines sont consacr\u00e9es \u00e0 des animaux requ\u00e9rant des soins particuliers dans l'attente d'un foyer accueillant. Aucun animal n'est euthanasi\u00e9, \u00e0 moins d'\u00eatre souffrant et atteint d'une maladie incurable.<br\/><br\/><b>(2) Secours et st\u00e9rilisation des animaux :<\/b> Le RSA allie ses efforts \u00e0 ceux de la communaut\u00e9 afin de secourir des animaux vivant dans des foyers les n\u00e9gligeant ou risquant de mourir de froid suite \u00e0 leur abandon par leurs propri\u00e9taires; tous les animaux secourus sont st\u00e9rilis\u00e9s et vaccin\u00e9s. Nous fournissons aussi au public des services de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour la st\u00e9rilisation \u00e0 bas prix. Nous croyons qu'en encourageant et en facilitant la st\u00e9rilisation des animaux domestiques, nous aidons \u00e0 combattre \u00e0 la source les probl\u00e8mes de surpopulation et d'abandon des animaux.<br\/><b><br\/>(3) Adoption d'animaux :<\/b> Le RSA organise des cliniques d'adoption hebdomadaires dans des magasins d'alimentation et accessoires pour animaux (tels Mondou) \u00e0 travers la r\u00e9gion de Montr\u00e9al, la Rive-Sud ainsi qu' au refuge afin de trouver des foyers permanents pour nos chiens et chats. Toutes les demandes d'adoption sont \u00e9tudi\u00e9es avec soin, dans l'int\u00e9r\u00eat des animaux.<br\/><br\/><b>(4) \u00c9ducation et conseils :<\/b> Nous offrons des conseils relatifs aux probl\u00e8mes m\u00e9dicaux et comportementaux que peuvent \u00e9prouver certains animaux. Avec notre soutien et nos encouragements, plusieurs individus ont trouv\u00e9 les ressources leur permettant de garder leurs animaux. Enfin, nous informons et responsabilisons les enfants et d'autres groupes concernant le soin \u00e0 apporter aux animaux de compagnie.<\/p>\n<p\/>\n<p><strong>The ARN is currently made up of over 200 unpaid volunteers, organized into various teams: shelter maintenance, adoption, fostering, medication, volunteer training, communications, administration, and fundraising.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Together, they work towards four main goals:<\/p>\n<p>(1)\u00a0<strong>Animal Shelter and Foster Homes:\u00a0<\/strong>The ARN operates a no-kill shelter as well as a community-based network of foster homes where unwanted cats and dogs are cared for. The shelter is divided into a number of rooms, including some dedicated to caring for cats with special needs while they wait for an understanding home. No animals are euthanized unless compassion for a sick and suffering animal demands euthanasia.<\/p>\n<p>(2)\u00a0<strong>Animal Rescue and Sterilization:\u00a0<\/strong>The ARN works with the community to rescue animals from abusive homes and from perishing in the cold after abandonment. All rescued animals are sterilized and vaccinated. We also provide assistance to the public with a low-cost sterilization reference service. We believe that by encouraging and facilitating pet sterilization, we are helping to solve the problem of animal overpopulation and abandonment at its source.<\/p>\n<p>(3)\u00a0<strong>Animal Adoption:\u00a0<\/strong>The ARN holds weekly adoption clinics at pet supply stores throughout the Montreal area and at our shelter to find permanent homes for our cats and dogs. All new adoption homes are carefully screened.<\/p>\n<p>(4)\u00a0<strong>Education and Counselling:\u00a0<\/strong>Finally, we provide advice and counselling on animal medical and behavioural problems. Through our support and encouragement, many people have found the resources to keep their animals.
