Montreal, February 4th, 2021<\/strong> \u2013 Sherbrooke\u00a0was meant to be<\/strong>. For Renaissance, a Quebec-based non-profit organization founded in 1994, Sherbrooke was an obvious choice for the opening of their first ever thrift store outside the Greater Montreal area. Renaissance new 15,000 square foot thrift store at Promenades King, 2213 West King Street, will greatly contribute to its environmental mission by diverting thousands of tons of goods from landfills that can be used by other people.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWith its long tradition of mobilization and solidarity, Sherbrooke is an extraordinary springboard for the development of Renaissance\u2019s mission,\u201d says Mr. \u00c9ric St-Arnaud, Executive Director of Renaissance. \u201cThe economic dynamism of this city and its desire to be a road model of eco-responsible development are assets that resonate with us\u201d.<\/p>\n

Creation of 50 new permanent jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Renaissance is proud to contribute to the local economy by creating some 50 new permanent jobs in Sherbrooke with the opening of its 17th thrift store at Promenades King next April. The Quebec non-profit organization aim to build a strong and committed team and invites candidates to join the community of Renaissance\u2019s and like the organization \u00a01,000 employees, have a rewarding job and contribute to a mission that changes lives every day. Each employee is valued by the organization and internal promotion is privileged. Candidates interested to join the new store team can write to \u00a0recrutement@renaissancequebec.ca<\/a>; or simply apply on our career section renaissancequebec.ca\/fr\/une-carriere-qui-fait-du-bien<\/a>.\u00a0 Renaissance will be part of \u00ab\u00a0Priorit\u00e9 emploi Estrie\u00a0\u00bb virtual job fair from March 12th to the 31st. Candidates can visit our stand prioriteemploi.qc.ca\/edition-virtuelle-2021\/<\/a> and join a human-centered\u00a0 organization.<\/p>\n

Involved in the community<\/strong><\/p>\n

Renaissance has chosen to partner with R\u00e9cupex, a long-standing partner and non-profit organization established in Sherbrooke for over 40 years. R\u00e9cupex also uses the context of the recovery of clothing, fabrics and accessories, to offer different workstations to its employees in integration. \u201cWe share common values \u200b\u200band ways of doing things with Renaissance. Their arrival in Sherbrooke opens up numbers of possibilities for the employability of our workers in training, whether during or after their integration journey, \u00ab\u00a0said Mr. Danny Roy, Executive Director of R\u00e9cupex. \u201cWorking with Renaissance also allows us to increase the share of local reuse generated by the donations we collect from the Sherbrooke and Eastern Townships communities, while diverting even more material from landfill sites. These are significant gestures that contribute to the preservation of the environment \u00ab\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Communication students from the faculty of letters and human sciences of the University of Sherbrooke were invited to work on a real case studies Renaissance chooses Sherbrooke for the opening of its first ever thrift store outside the Greater Montreal area<\/em>. \u201cThese young talents are creative and very professional, it was a rewarding collaboration.\u201d says \u00c9ric St-Arnaud. Renaissance is also exploring the possibility of realizing some of the ideas proposed by the students. To be continued\u2026<\/p>\n

A model of sustainable development<\/strong><\/p>\n

Renaissance\u2019s mission is to facilitate the social and professional integration of those having difficulty entering the job market, while encouraging everyone to take concrete steps towards preserving the environment. For over 25 years now, Renaissance has helped nearly 6,000 people re-enter the job market and regain their dignity and independence.<\/p>\n

At Renaissance, used items are collected, people are reintegrated and donations are reinvested in the community. This triple purpose gives full meaning to the action of the organization and makes Renaissance a model of sustainable development. To give and purchase at Renaissance means doing something eco-responsible.<\/p>\n
