Did you know that you can claim up to 15,000$ in Small Claims Court?
That neither party can be represented by lawyer?
That should you obtain a decision in your favour, you may need to obtain the assistance of a bailiff to get paid by the losing party?
In order to demystify the workings of Small Claims Court, the Centre de justice de proximité du Grand Montréal (or CJPGM) is hosting in July a free legal information session for the general public on Small Claims Court.
On July 17 2019 from 6-8:30 PM, we will be sharing useful tips as well as information on how to prepare for one’s hearing more generally (whether one is the plaintiff or the defendant). The focus of this information session is to demystify the major steps leading up to the hearing, the process of the proceeding, the evidence and the execution of the judgment, and thus be better equipped to properly present and defend your case.
The event will take place at the Montreal Courthouse and will be led by a Judge of the Court of Québec, Civil Division, and a lawyer.
Registration is mandatory. https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/free-session-for-all-small-claims-court-registration-61688026548?utm_campaign=new_event_email&utm_medium=email&utm_source=eb_email&utm_term=viewmyevent_button
