Événement

Good news everyone: I’m re-starting my anti-oppressive yoga classes!! As part of the GrassRoots Yoga Populaire collective, I will be offering pay-what-you-can, drop-in classes Wednesdays at 8:30pm at the lovely Coop Le Milieu!! These will be gentle yoga and relaxation classes in a non-judgmental and compassionate environment.

*Queer and Trans* friendly*
*Body positive*
*Welcome to people of all colours, ethnicities, religions and (sub-)cultural backgrounds*
*Bilingual*
*Non-gendered bathrooms or language*
*Come 15 minutes early if you have any special concerns or just want to chat*

*About me: Cherrilyn started doing yoga spontaneously at just 12 years old. Since then, she has been using yoga to maintain mental and physical health. With a professional and academic background in mental health and social services, Cherrilyn takes the approach of general wellness, with a focus on alignment, breath, and relaxation. As a curvy, queer, woman of colour, Cherrilyn has found yoga to be a source of pride and empowerment: “My deviant body can do things!”

*About the collective:
-Vision-
We envision yoga communities that are both self-reflexive and broadly inclusive. We believe that anyone who can breathe can do yoga.

-Mission-
Our aim is to make yoga more physically, emotionally, financially, and psychologically accessible by providing services that are both drop-in and pay what you can, in non-judgmental and anti-oppressive environments across Montréal.

Our aspiration is that by reaching out to more people, we can share our passion that yoga is a powerful way to connect our minds, our bodies and our spirits. We hope that in building more inclusive and thoughtful yoga communities, people will carry those principles and practices into their homes, neighbuorhoods, and movements.

*What to bring. Since these classes won’t be happening in a yoga studio, please bring some things to replace the regular props:
– A yoga mat, or a large towel
– A blanket or bath towel
– A throw cushion or pillow
– Water!. Le Milieu has a tap (obvs), but since we’ll be doing a lot of detoxifying breath work, it’s good to bring extra water to cleanse your body
– Some cash, if you can, to support the service and this fantastic co-op that offers a free community space for artists, kids and everyone in between!

Ils seront des cours doux visés sur la relaxation dans un espace compatissant et dépourvues de tout jugement. 🙂

* Ouvert aux personnes Queer et Trans*
* «Body Positive »*

*Sur moi : Cherrilyn a commencé de faire le yoga sur un coup de tête quand elle avait 12 ans. De ce temps, elle utilise le yoga pour maintenir la santé physique et mentale. Avec de une formation et de l’expérience professionnelle dans les services sociaux et la santé mentale, Cherrilyn adopte une approche de bien-être général qui se concentre sur l’alignment, la respiration, et la relaxation. Comme femme queer, plantureuse, et racisée, elle a trouvé que le yoga peut être une source de fièrté et de pouvoir: “Mon corps aberrant peut faire des choses!”

*Sur le collectif (en Anglais, `scuse) :
-Vision-
We envision yoga communities that are both self-reflexive and broadly inclusive. We believe that anyone who can breathe can do yoga.

-Mission-
Our aim is to make yoga more physically, emotionally, financially, and psychologically accessible by providing services that are both drop-in and pay what you can, in a non-judgmental and anti-oppressive environments across Montréal.

We hope that in building more inclusive and thoughtful yoga communities, people will carry those principles and practices into their homes, neighborhoods, and movements.

*Quoi amener?
