Take on the challenge: Do something good for the planet!

Montreal, April 20, 2021 – On Earth Day, Renaissance is challenging customers to do something for the planet! Giving and buying at Renaissance is a good thing for the environment and the community.

 « Over the past few years, there has been a significant increase in environmental awareness. People are thinking more and more about giving their used goods a second life rather than throwing them in the trash and are increasingly turning to the second-hand market. Shopping in thrift stores is starting to be really trendy” says Éric St-Arnaud, Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance. « In 2020-21, the great generosity of the population allowed us to stop more than 19.4 million kg of goods from ending up in landfills. In addition, the revenues generated from our stores has enabled us to reintegrate 530 people into the job market with our job training program and our Employment Resources Centres.”

For all of us, donating things is an easy thing to do, because we all own items and clothes that we no longer use. In the Greater Montreal area and, more recently, in Sherbrooke, Renaissance donation centres collect these items to give them a second life. They are also authorized drop-off points for Quebec’s Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA-Québec), which allows end of life electronics to be processed in accordance with Canadian recycling standards.

Thrift stores also offer responsible consumption solutions to find new activities, update your wardrobe and interior decor, all at affordable prices and always tax-free! Renaissance is also a proud distributor of Boomerang recycled paint.
